Lammas Cacao Ceremony: Authentic Movement • Embodied Harvest
Lammas Cacao Ceremony: Authentic Movement • Embodied Harvest
Lammas, or Lughnasadh, is the festival of the first harvest—a time to honor the fruits of our labor, give thanks for what is ripening, and begin to gently let go of what no longer serves the season ahead. It is a threshold moment: the height of summer turning slowly toward autumn, full of both abundance and impermanence.
In this ceremony, we gather in reverence for this turning point with ceremonial cacao, a sacred plant medicine that softens the heart and supports inner listening. From this grounded, open space, we enter the practice of Authentic Movement—a form of embodied inquiry rooted in depth psychology and developed by Mary Starks Whitehouse in the mid-20th century. Practiced with eyes closed and without choreography, Authentic Movement invites you to follow the impulses that arise from within, allowing movement, stillness, and expression to emerge naturally and without judgment.
This is a space where body becomes guide, and presence becomes the practice. In the spirit of Lammas, we invite you to move with what is coming to fullness in your life—what wants to be seen, felt, or released—as we honor the body as both witness and wisdom-keeper.
No experience is necessary. Come as you are. All of you is welcome.
